I’m usually more of a “list of goals” person, but the more I thought about what I wanted to accomplish this year, the more it kept coming back to this one word:
Connection.
The Surgeon general put out a report last year on the Epidemic of Loneliness and Isolation. This was part of his introduction letter:
“Loneliness and isolation represent profound threats to our health and well-being. But we have the power to respond. By taking small steps every day to strengthen our relationships, and by supporting community efforts to rebuild social connection, we can rise to meet this moment together.”
(Check it out here, there’s lots of graphs and facts, and you know I love me some data!)
As I work to embrace connection this year, I plan to share more ideas here for connection with community, friends, and even strangers. Please let me know if you have suggestions or successes, I would love to share those to inspire others!
On top of that, personally, I’ll be working on building more connection with my family and spiritually. It’s a powerful word and I’m excited to see what it can build!
Do you have a word or a goal for 2024? I’d love to hear it!
