A Bio In Books

The books you read say a lot about you. Probably partially because they reveal your choices and tastes, and then also partially because they affect who you going forward.

As the best way I could think of to introduce myself, here are some of my favorites books right now:

PICTURE BOOKS

I love lyrical books- and I’m a sucker for things perfectly said in a unique way. Plots are optional, beautiful illustrations are must. Humor is fine now and again, but if it can make me cry it’s an instant classic.

Some of my favorites are:

  • Little Tree by Loren Long
  • When Green Becomes Tomatos by Julie Fogliano
  • Big and Small and In-Between by Carter Higgins
  • Farmhouse by Sophie Blackall

MIDDLE GRADE

To be honest, Middle Grade is probably my favorite level right now- They speak truth without needing to add adult issues. My pleasure reads are all coming from this category right now.

Lately I’ve loved:

  • The Last Bear by Hannah Gold
  • Starfish by Lisa Fipps
  • Red, White and Whole by Rajani LaRocca

YOUNG ADULT AND ADULT BOOKS

Tend to be less my favorite— why would I want to read about other adults and their problems? In books for adults I pretty much stick to non-fiction. I usually stick to books about parenting, education and an occasional narrative non-fiction.

Most recently that means:

  • The Read-Aloud Family by Sarah Mackenzie
  • Brave Learner by Julie Bogart
  • The Smartest Kids in the World: And How They Got That Way by Amanda Ripley
  • Code Girls by Liza Mundy
